Research into research synthesis methods is a growing field and Cochrane relies upon Methods Groups and other Cochrane members to identify this research. 

Methods Groups are researchers networking in Cochrane creating a focal point within the organisation for those involved in specific methods research. Cochrane has given small grants to fund methods research and its implementation by members of the Methods Groups and those supporting their work. Details of current programmes of work are the Methods Innovation Fund and the Strategic Methods Fund. Cochrane is currently developing a "Content Strategy" to evaluate and prioritise core content of reviews such as review types, methods and data sources. Amongst areas of development we will work towards supporting reviews of prognostic studies. We are currently working on our exemplar suite of reviews before further roll out.
