Cochrane is committed to the co-production of its reviews. Co-production is a key component of its Consumer Engagement and Involvement Framework, and Cochrane has signed the UK Health Research Authority “Putting People First” commitment to patient and public involvement in research.
To promote the co-production of evidence syntheses across Cochrane and the wider research community, the Cochrane Co-Production Methods Group was launched at the September 2023 Cochrane Colloquium. It brings together over twenty international experts in the field. The group aims to identify and disseminate best practice in the field, and to support anyone involved in co-producing evidence syntheses.
To do so, it plans to:
- spearhead methods research to establish what works best in co-producing evidence syntheses;
- support the development and sharing of methods of co-production;
- signpost Cochrane review authors to resources aimed at supporting best practice;
- maintain and develop learning resources;
- support learning and dissemination activities; and
- update co-production guidance in Cochrane Handbooks.
