Welcome to Dr Emma Axon, new Evidence Synthesis Methodology Editor in the Methods Support Unit

Emma has a MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Leeds, and she also completed a PhD in 2017 at Teesside University which focussed on tracking the weight status of children during primary school along with identifying the best treatments for obesity in this age group. This involved being author on several Cochrane reviews assessing interventions to treat childhood obesity. After completing her PhD, Emma worked as a systematic review methodologist for Cochrane Skin, based at the University of Nottingham, conducting editorial assessments, and providing methods support to author teams. She also co-authored several Cochrane reviews as part of this role. Emma’s main research interests encompass general systematic review methods, such as implementing risk of bias and GRADE assessments.
