Methodological resources and training

We are currently building these pages to provide a portal to a variety of resources that will identify published methodological work of interest to those involved in conducting Cochrane Reviews.

Cochrane has a long history since its beginning to develop methods and methods-related tools to improve and advance systematic review methods. Development of methods involves conducting research into methods through empirical research, simulation studies and systematic reviews of methods studies e.g. the Methodology Review Group.

Finding methodological research in current databases is challenging and led to Cochrane members (Mike Clarke, Sally Hopewell and Anne Eisinga) setting up the Cochrane Methodology Register. Unfortunately, this database was archived in 2012 but remains accessible.

This page will also highlight articles of topical methodological interest.  Our current seventeen Methods Groups highlight key methodological papers of interest year by year.

The Bias Methods Group have developed a methods group strategy document
