Tool for Addressing Conflicts of Interest in Trials (TACIT)

TACIT

TACIT is a tool that provides systematic reviewers with a framework for addressing conflicts of interest in trials included in systematic reviews, e.g. Cochrane Reviews.

The tool facilitates a consistent and transparent judgement of "notable concern" about conflicts of interest in relation to funders and researchers involved in randomised clinical trials. TACIT also addresses the quality of the information that the conflicts of interest judgement was based on. The judgement is directed by a series of guidance questions and is facilitated by an Excel-based application.

An unpublished version of TACIT is available here. Systematic reviewers are encouraged to use the tool, and any type of feedback can be sent to: alundh@health.sdu.dk. Based on the feedback, the tool will be revised, and a manuscript will be submitted for publication in early 2026.
